Summary

One paragaph which summarises the main ideas of the article.

Description 1

Relevant competency models are a fundamental component for managing more efficiently and effectively the present human resources and a very significant system to forecast the management, technical and scientific needs of the future competent workforce.

Competencies are critical carriers of knowledge; as such they are an effective way to capture the present reservoir of explicit and often years of accumulated tacit knowledge existing in a specific workforce. Furthermore, by understanding and defining future knowledge needs of nuclear-related technologies and infrastructure, suitable type of competencies should be updated or additionally developed for designing, manufacturing and maintaining the next generation of artefacts and systems.
