Description

Description

A clear and concise policy in KM can help any entities, regardless of the NK status of the country or organization, to establish proper strategy for NKM cycle phases. This policy can be at the national or organizational level. In entities that have implemented integrated management system, KM policy used to be a part of overall management organization. For a newcomer country it is recommended that efforts to establish a national NKM policy begin at the initial stage of decision making to start a nuclear programme. A knowledge management policy should include various areas such as a policy statement, purpose, scope, role and responsibilities of individuals and managers. The policy should focus on KM processes like knowledge identification, capturing, transferring, storing and sharing. The policy should focus on the human resource aspects of NKM and not only on IT solutions. Annex (A-1) provides a sample of KM policy and Annex (A-2) provides a template for policy development.
