Data information knowledge wisdom model or DIMW Model is Or DIMW model is representing purported structural and/or functional relationships between data, information, knowledge, and wisdom
Description
The DIKW model is a paradigm that is used to describe the connection among data, information, knowledge, and wisdom. There is much debate about it's usefulness in the KM community, but it is still used/referred to for the purposes of understanding the interactions among the components and where they fit within a knowledge management program.
The main idea is that as one moves up the from the bottom of the pyramid, the previous layer coalesces into the next layer. Data, with some structure and analysis becomes Information; Information with more analysis and experience becomes Knowledge; Knowledge with more experience over time becomes Wisdom.
